Delight Ministries – FOR THE GIRL
I haven’t had the opportunity to share much about myself besides my introduction on the ‘about me‘ page, but to help give y’all some background information about my faith – I am a Christian and love Jesus so so much. You’re probably wondering why I just mentioned that, and the reason is that I spent most of this past week with my Delight Gals. Delight is a woman-based ministry on campus at IUPUI that I am apart of that actively works to achieve a community of women who love Jesus to foster growth in our faith and to have a safe place to spend time with each other and the Lord. This week was all about love. Whether you simply have love for your family, friends, S/O, Jesus, or objective things in your life such as your hometown, phone, and social media.
Stop Cheating the One’s That You Love
This week in Delight we spent our time thinking about who we love, and the things that we love in honor of it being the week of Valentines Day. We read a few verses in the Bible demonstrating how Jesus shows he loves us in every way, and how important love is to him. We spent time talking about WHY we love those things, & people that we do. We spent the rest of time discussing the flipside of why we cannot sacrifice the things we love when we know a GOD that has sacrificed everything for us.
To love God whole-heartedly means to give God with your WHOLE heart. God doesn’t want 50%, he doesn’t want 90%. We have a jealous God, and he wants 100%. Most of us want to keep that 10% for US. We want to give that 10% to our relationships with our families, friends, S/O – but the truth is, if we want to truly experience the love of God we have to sacrifice that 10% for HIM. – Mack
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5 – NIV
We cannot expect to hold back the extra 10% for ourselves, when the Lord has sacrificed much more for us. He has brought Heaven to us, he died for OUR sins. – That alone is much greater than the love you have for your phone, social media, the sin you are commiting in your relationship, the grudges you’re holding with your brother or sister.
By the end of the night we were all reminded that the questions we have about why it seems like our relationships aren’t going so well. We had many questions of when is ‘too far’ in a relationship? Why am I still single? When is my s/o going to propose? The truth is, our mentors, friends, or parents cannot answer these questions for us – We need to ask ourselves. You see, the answers to these questions are right in front of us! Most of us have been caught up worshiping man-made things, instead of worshiping the one who has created and provided for us. We’re not going to get our answers until we can SURRENDER and give the LORD our 100%.
There you will worship man made Gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell. But if from there you seek the Lord, your GOD, you will find him if you seek him with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 4:28-30 – NIV
How to live an EXTRAordinary Life
On Wednesday we had our FOR THE GIRL Tour with Mack and Kenz (Founder’s of Delight from Nashville, TN). We spent this night worshiping our Lord, and talking all about relationships, love, and why we cannot sacrifice the things we love for our Lord. During this, Mack spoke about 1 word that she had made for the year of 2019 – EXTRA. She was then reminded by the Lord the first Sunday of the year why she chose this word to describe her 2019 Year.
“The only difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the word EXTRA”
I took the word EXTRA and ran with it this week for Valentine’s Day. I celebrated every person in my life more than I usually would have, and I’m focusing on living my life a little EXTRA from this week forward. It’s very easy to cheat the one’s you love when we are living in an egocentric society. Give more this year, go all out, be loud, and have fun!
We do not have an ordinary God, and most of us live this ordinary life. I challenge y’all moving forward to give that EXTRA love to God that he deserves, to live that EXTRAordinary life that you want to live. Our time spent on Earth is short, let’s devour every moment we’re given loving EXTRAordinarily, and giving 100%.
Thanks so much for reading this weeks blog – Stay Peachy!
